Bell Incorporated Trash Bag Box Design Wins Gold Award from Flexographic Technical Association (FTA)

Sioux Falls, South Dakota - March 31, 2005

Bell Incorporated, one of the largest independently-owned folding carton manufacturers in the United States, has won a gold award in the Flexographic Technical Association's 2005 Design Awards Competition. Bell was honored for its TUF Trash Bag box designs for Minneapolis-based Tyco Plastics. The TUF products are sold in Walgreens stores.

Award judges singled out Bell's entry for its overall design appeal and its use of new technology to produce compositional effects previously difficult to achieve with flexography.

The packaging employs a standard, 4-color process along with special spot colors to increase shelf appeal and provide product differentiation. It also utilizes a variety of subtle effects, such as gradient drop shadows and feathering, to give a three-dimensional quality to lettering and images on the packaging. Using a combination of traditional line screen angles and stochastic screening technology, Bell was able to achieve effects that have traditionally been very hard to get with flexo presses.

Winners of the FTA Design Awards competition were announced March 20 at the 2005 FFTA Annual Forum in Orlando, Florida.
